2008 Pistol Schedule


Shooting will be held at Black Wing Shooting Complex
Please arrive at least 15 minutes early.
Handgun section meets 5:00-6:00 at Blackwing Shooting Center’s indoor range, 3722 Marysville Road.

May 6  Introduction and basic safety for all firearms. Tri-Township Fire Department.

June 25  More handgun safety, handling club guns (S&W A22 autofeed 22LR, Ruger SA revolver 38 special), grip, sight picture, shooting from bench rest. Range time shooting for tight groups.

July 2   Safety review and trigger control. Range time for Pro Marksman requirements (shooting two-handed from bench rest: ten paper plates each with five shots in 9½” circle from 15’).

July 9   Safety review, stance, and breath control. Range time for NRA Marksman requirements (standing two-handed: ten paper plates each with 10 shots in 8½” circle from 15’).

July 16   Safety review. Range time for NRA Marksman First Class requirements (standing two-handed: five D-2 targets with five shots strong side and five shots weak side with minimum score of 46 plus five more targets with minimum score of 56).

July 23   Demonstration of accuracy and speed by U.S. women’s champion in cowboy action shooting. Range time if needed to complete NRA Marksman First Class requirements (see above). Intro to sustained fire (standing two handed from ready position: D-2 targets with five shots strong side in twenty seconds and five shots weak side in twenty seconds).

July 30  Cleaning the club handguns. Presentation of NRA proficiency patches and rocker panels.

September 9 Last day to submit projects for the Delaware County Fair.

Fee of $25 partially covers Blackwing range time, targets as listed above, and ammunition. Handgun rentals in other calibers ($10 each) and ammunition (cost varies) are available from Blackwing at shooter’s expense.
